At the January 8 session of the RA Government, a draft resolution aimed at digitalizing the waste management sector was approved.
The draft provides for the approval process of waste generation standards and waste placement or storage quota projects to be carried out exclusively in electronic form, through the “Digital Services Platform for Environmental Management” electronic system.
The amendments aim to simplify and enhance the efficiency of interactions between economic entities and the Ministry of Environment of the RA , reduce paperwork, and improve administrative effectiveness.
At the same time, the regulations are aligned with the latest amendments to the Law “On Waste”, clearly covering not only waste placement but also waste storage.
The draft also provides economic entities with the option to authorize other persons with relevant professional expertise to submit quota projects by uploading an electronic copy of the corresponding power of attorney.
The decision is scheduled to enter into force six months after its official publication, allowing interested parties to prepare for the new requirements.
